Introducing a new Genesis Child Theme… ShipShape!
After spending about 4 weeks on choosing a base template child theme and working part-time on various aspects of creating a custom Genesis child theme, I’ve finally created my very own Genesis child theme called… Shipshape!

How Genesis ShipShape Child Theme Took Shape
I wanted a simple and clean design, something that would highlight the content of the website or blog. I really like the Genesis Minimum theme but I wanted to spruce it up just a little bit. Also, I wanted to make the theme mobile responsive so that it looks good on regular computer monitors, laptops, and apple- and android-based computer tablets. Hence, the name ShipShape… because it adjusts nicely on various viewing devices.
You can see demo of the theme here.
As well as the mobile responsive design, the other main feature of theme is the fixed primary navigation and header area of the theme. This feature is implemented using only CSS.
Flexible Home Page
Shipshape has a custom home page with 5 sidebars. There is also an announcement box which can be used for opt-in forms and offers. In my own implementation of ShipShape on trotterWay.com, I’ve made use of both the Genesis Simple Sidebars plugin and custom WordPress sidebars as well for the home page.
There are many more features which you read more about on the ShipShape theme page.
Though there are no colors options, ShipShape can easily be modified for different color palettes / combinations.
Because of its simple and clean design, ShipShape would lend itself to all types of websites and blogs. After more testing, I plan to make ShipShape available for free download, for a limited time.
